Our contribution to international data standards
Cawston Surveying has helped define a number of international data standards, including the UN/CEFACT eTendering Standard, through the personal contribution of Director, Kevin Smith.
Kevin contributed his construction domain knowledge and technical data and process analysis skills to a number of UN/CEFACT projects, ensuring the UK's construction industry requirements were met. He also contributed to the definition of methodologies (Technical Specifications) used to develop these data standards (Business Standards), primarily UN/CEFACT Core Components Technical Specification v3 and UN/CEFACT XML Naming and Design Rules v3.
He was engaged as one of the technical experts/authors for the Guide for a European CORE Invoice data model with UN/CEFACT CII Implementation Guideline, a CEN Workshop Agreement, published by CEN in 2011. This described how published invoice data standards should be technically implemented throughout the European Union.

He developed a testing suite to validate the CITE export functions of BoQ production software and managed the software certification process for CITE.

He has extensive data and process modelling expertise, using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) as his preferred modelling methodology.
